OUR MISSION

To promote the art of glasswork on Etsy and to bring increased exposure to the glass artisans who participate in the EGA team. To expand Etsy's customer base by attracting new buyers through advertising, promotions and marketing strategies. To promote EGA within our individual Etsy shops, at craft shows, and at galleries and shops where our work is exhibited.

JOINING EGA

 Membership in EGA is open to self representing glass artists who create original work and are committed to the success of their Etsy shop.

Please read the following membership criteria carefully before applying.

Membership Criteria

  1. Your shop must be at least 51% glass.

    The majority of items in your Etsy shop must be created by you out of glass using one or more of the following methods: fusing, slumping, lampworking, blowing, enameling, scoring and grouting or soldering. Artists who manipulate or transform glass by hand using other methods will be considered on a case by case basis.
  2. Your shop must be active, original and aesthetically pleasing.


    1. You must be an active Etsy seller, meaning that you regularly list new items in your Etsy store.

    2. You must have at least 10 positive feedback points from different buyers and must maintain a primarily positive feedback score (98%).

    3. The items in your Etsy shop must be original and display a level of mastery in your field.

    4. Commercial patterns may not be used.

    5. Photography of your glasswork must be clear and professional. Image consistency showing multiple shots of artwork is highly recommended.

  3. You must be willing to work.

    1. If accepted, you will be required to actively participate and frequently contribute to advancing the goals of EGA.

    2. Specifically, members are expected to post regularly, and no fewer than twice monthly, in the EGA forum; and to join in some EGA activities on an ongoing basis. Mentors are available to help new members learn how to participate in team activities.

    3. Respect and professionalism toward other members of the Etsy community is expected of our members.

  4. You must pay dues.

    EGA member dues are $10/month. These dues are used exclusively for advertising EGA and must be kept current. Dues can be no more than one month in arrears as we count on a certain amount monthly for advertising and promotion.
Consideration will be given to a balanced representation of each glass discipline when considering applications of new members. Due to the inherent nature of competing interests, Etsy Glass Artists does not allow dual membership in both EGA and other glass street teams that are not limited in scope to a single glass discipline.

THE JURY PROCESS

The jury deadline dates for applying for membership in the Etsy Glass Artists team for 2008 are February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1.

Applicants will be notified within two (2) weeks after the application deadline.
